Zunil corte (wrap skirt).
Hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two weft-striped indigo-dyed cotton panels featuring
complex ikat dye patterns. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process of
threads before they are woven. This fine example is in very good condition. Pre-1980. Acquired from Sra. Juana Mateo
Rosales at her stall in Tinamit Maya in Panajachel. The top photograph shows only half of the available material.
Weft 109 x Warp 236 cm. (23-40) $ 125 or best offer.
