Zunil corte (wrap skirt).

This post-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two well-matched cotton panels. These panels have weft stripes featuring complex ikat dye patterns in indigo. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process of threads before they are woven, similar to tie-dye. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Berta Hernandez of Santa Maria de Jesus. The top photograph shows only half of the available material. Often, we sell cortes for yardage. Weft 109 x Warp 214 cm.
