Zunil corte (wrap skirt). This circa-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two cotton panels joined by “randas”, hand embroidered
decorative seams. These panels have weft stripes featuring complex ikat dye patterns in indigo. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles
that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of
Santa Maria de Jesus at her space in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. The top photograph shows only half of the available material.
Typically, we sell cortes for yardage. W107 x L258 cm. (14-69) $ 90. OBO
