Totonicapan wedding huipil. Made for use in Santa Maria de Jesus.
W91 x L104 cm opened. This contemporary wedding huipil was hand embroidered almost entirely in silk on a base that is foot
treadle loomed in manner typical of Nahuala, dyed with indigo natural dye. This huipil and a few other similar ones
were the work of one woman in Totonicapan who made them to be worn in Santa Maria de Jesus. They have some resemblance
to Santa Maria de Jesus festival blouses but they are otherwise untypical. It is in excellent condition. This unique example
was acquired from Petronila Mendez Boco of Santa Maria de Jesus. (8-23) $ 350. Sold.
