Totonicapan daily huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in a single indigo blue cotton base panel. This panel is decorated with horizontal bands of supplementary brocade featuring a variety of motifs: bird, animal, butterfly and universal diamond, in ever shifting thread shading. The head and arm openings are trimmed with velvet. It is in very good condition. This fine example was acquired from Sras. Ema and Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua Guatemala. W 75 x L 58 cm. (7-111) Was $70. Now $55 or best offer. .
