Totonicapan vintage faja (sash). W7 x L209 cm plus ties. This circa-1960 faja was hand woven on a special table loom in a combination of wool, cotton and silk. The silk is largely worn away, but indicates that it was likely worn ceremonially. The style of these fajas have not changed significantly in over 100 years, so it is difficult to tell its age. It features a great variety of design motifs – geometric, birds, hands, and many others. It is in good condition. It was acquired from Maria Huarcus Aigua of Chichicastenango. (6-180) $ 60
