Totonicapan servietta (table runner) or perraje (shawl).

(Possibly from Cantel.) This circa-1980 servietta was hand woven on a back strap loom in one weft striped cotton panel. These stripes include those with complex ikat, a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. There are broad areas of ixcaco - hand spun naturally brown cotton. This servietta is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeu at her “tienda” on 4e Calle Oriente in Antigua Guatemala. W 52 x L 120 cm plus fringes. (23-65) $ 180 or best offer.
