Totonicapan vintage perraje. (shawl)

We estimate that this perraje dates from 1950 or earlier. It is hand woven on a back-strap loom in two weft striped cotton panels. Many of the weft-stripes have ikat dye patterns in indigo. All natural dyes. These have not been produced for several decades and are rare. Acquired from Sr. Manuel Ramos at his tienda in Chichicastenango. Considering its age, it is in very good condition.
