Totonicapán corte (wrap skirt).

This circa-2000 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one panel. It features fine ikat dye patterns in indigo in the weft stripes. This beautiful example is in very good condition. As the material is quite sturdy, cortes are often purchased as yardage. The top photograph shows only half of the material as it is sown together in one large loop by joining the warp ends. This example was acquired from Sra. Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G) in Antigua. W 84 x L 382 cm. (20-70) $ 110 or best offer.
