Totonicapán corte (wrap skirt).

This post-2000 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one cotton panel. This corte features large ikat dye patterns in the weft stripes in indigo. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. The specific provenance given is according to information we received from the vendor in Guatemala. The top photograph shows only half of the material. This unique example is in excellent condition.
