This post-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one wide black cotton panel. The ikat dye patterns in this corte are exceptionally fine. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. The specific provenance given is according to information received from the vendor. This example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Juana Mateo Rosales at her tienda in Tinamit Maya on Calle Santander in Panajachel.
