Totonicapán corte (wrap skirt).

This post-1980 corte was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in one cotton panel. This corte features ikat dye patterns in both the warp and weft. Ikat is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process similar to tie-dye. The specific provenance given is according to information we received from the vendor in Guatemala. This especially fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. The top photograph shows only half of the material. W 86 x L 396 cm. (16-113) $ 80. OBO
