Totonicapan daily huipil.
This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two cotton base panels. These panels are
decorated with horizontal bands of supplementary weft brocade featuring ikat dye patterns, unusual in huipils. This style of
Totonicapan huipil is uncommon. This huipil also features smocking and the head and arm openings are trimmed with velvet.
It is in very good condition.
This unique example was acquired from Juana Escalon at the “bomberos” textile market in Panajachel. W80 x L69 cm. (15-292) $ 60. OBO
