Todos Santos Cuchumatan vintage daily huipil. W84 x L151 cm opened. This circa-1960 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton base panels with red and white warp stripes. The white stripes in the base appear to be hand spun. These panels are heavily decorated with supplementary brocade featuring geometric motifs. The center panel is wider and more extensively decorated than the side panels. Typical of Todos Santos huipils, the head opening is surrounded by appliqued rickrack. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. (9-310) $ 100.
