Todos Santos Cuchumatan daily huipil.

This circa-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three red and white striped cotton panels. These panels are heavily decorated with supplementary brocade featuring complex geometric, almost abstract decoration. Typical of all Todos Santos huipils, the center panel is wider and more heavily decorated than the two side panels. Also typical, the interior is a forest of loose threads. The head hole is surrounded by appliqued rick-rack in the Todos Santos style. The head and arm holes are trimmed with velvet. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ana Carolina Ajanel of Chichicastenango. W85 x L135 cm opened. (7-283) $ 95. OBO
