Todos Santos Cuchumatan vintage daily huipil.

W 79 x L 167 cm opened. This circa-1960 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton base panels with predominantly red and white warp stripes. These panels are decorated with supplementary brocade featuring geometric motifs typical of Todos Santos at that time. The center panel is wider than the side panels. Typical of all Todos Santos huipils, the head opening is surrounded by rickrack appliqué. This fine example is in very good condition for a half-century old textile from the tropics. It was acquired from Bonifacia Mendez Bocó at the Artesanos market in Antigua Guatemala. (11-130) $ 100. OBO
