[Venacular note. We have been instructed that the local women call their upper body garment a “huipil”, not a “blusa”.] Aka a “Frida blouse” because Frica Kahlo had a collection of them that she wore often. They are made in the towns of Juchitan and Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. This fine example is hand embroidered on velvet. It has the traditional polka dot lining. It was acquired from Sra. Ana Carolina Ajanel at her “tienda” in Chichicastenango. It is used, but in very good condition. W 69 x L 52 cm. (23-31) $ 150 or best offer.
