Tecpan ceremonial huipil. W130 x L125 cm opened. This pre-1980 ceremonial huipil (rij po't style) was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well balanced cotton panels. Much of the base thread is ixcaco - hand spun naturally brown cotton. These panels are extensively decorated with supplementary brocade in cotton featuring the plumed serpent motif and other geometric designs. The head hole is lined with "china cinta", a traditional feature. It is in very good condition. These huipils are highly prized and rare. It was acquired from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia.
