Tecpan ceremonial huipil. W123 x L130 cm opened. This post-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton panels. Much of the base material is woven from ixcaco – hand spun naturally brown cotton. It also features rows of supplementary brocade in bird and universal diamond motifs. The neck opening is finished with “china cinta” – Chinese ribbon, a traditional feature. Tecpan ceremonial huipils are rare. This example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia. (6-394) $ 350
