Tecpan vintage ceremonial huipil.

Hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide, well-matched, warp-striped cotton panels. The brown warp stripes are “ixcaco” – hand spun undyed naturally brown cotton. The finely woven surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring bird and universal diamond motifs, front and back, all in silk. Natural dyes. Circe 1960. Tecpan ceremonial huipils are increasingly rare. This exceptional example is in excellent condition. From the collection of Joan Jacobson of Tucson. W 138 x L 61 cm. 21-156. $ 1000 or best offer.
