Tecpan ceremonial huipil.

This circa-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide, well-matched, warp-striped cotton panels. The brown warp stripes are “ixcaco” – hand spun undyed naturally brown cotton. The finely woven surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring bird and universal diamond motifs, front and back. Tecpan ceremonial huipils are increasingly rare. This exceptional example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. W 126 x L 57 cm. (19-20) $480. OBO
