Tecpan ceremonial huipil.

Known in Quiche as the “rij po’t”. This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two wide warp-striped cotton panels. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade, featuring extravagant plumed serpent and universal diamond motifs across the front and back. Tecpan ceremonial huipils such as this one are rare. This beautiful example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. W 140 x L 60 cm. (16-59) $ 300. OBO
