Tecpan daily huipil.

This post-1980 huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two well-balanced white cotton base panels with red warp stripes. These panels are decorated with horizontal bands of supplementary weft brocade featuring bird, geometric and floral motifs. The head and arm openings are trimmed with hand embroidered flowers and black crochet. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at her space in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua Guatemala. W79 x L59 cm. (11-127) $ 90.
