Sumpango daily huipil. W87 x L114 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two predominantly blue cotton panels with
variously colored warp stripes. Blue is an atypical primary color. These two panels are attached by fine hand embroidered seams both in the center and the
sides. The head and arm openings are trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. The main feature of Sumpango huipils is the rows of hand embroidered
floral and sunburst designs circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly rare. This extra-wide and unique example is in excellent
condition. It was acquired from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia. (9-140) $ 120. SOLD.
