Sumpango daily huipil.
This circa-2000 daily huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two warp-striped cotton blend (“aleman”) panels.
The principal feature is rows of hand embroidered floral patterns circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly uncommon.
The head opening is trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. This classic example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from
Sra. Carmen Tepeu at her “tienda” on 4e Calle Oriente in Antigua.
