Sumpango daily huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two warp-striped cotton blend (“aleman”) panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The principal feature is rows of hand embroidered floral patterns circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly uncommon. The head opening is trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. This classic example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Estefana Culajah at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 77 x L 47 cm. (19-76) $ 125. OBO
