Sumpango daily huipil.

This post-2000 daily huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two white cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The head and arm openings are trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. The principal feature is rows of hand embroidered floral and sunburst patterns circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly uncommon. This beautiful example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the Sra. Petronila Mendez Bocó of Santa Maria de Jesus at her stall in the Mercado des Artesanos in Antigua. W 73 x L 56 cm. (15-291) Was $190. Now $160 or best offer.
