Sumpango daily huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two warp-striped cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The head and arm openings are trimmed with a hand embroidered chain stitch. The principal feature is rows of hand embroidered floral patterns circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly uncommon. This classic example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 82 x L 56 cm. (15-234) $ 200. OBO
