Sumpango daily huipil.

This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two red warp-striped cotton panels. The head and arm openings are trimmed with hand embroiderey. The main feature of Sumpango huipils is the rows of hand embroidery circling the head opening. Sumpango huipils are increasingly rare. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Tomasa Calbo Mateo at the “bomberos” market in Panajachel. W 86 x L 69 cm. (15-129) $ 95. OBO
