Solola chumpa - men's ceremonial jacket. Shoulders W44 X L53 x sleeves 49 cm. This circa-1980 men's ceremonial jacket was hand woven on a back strap loom in panels of undyed hand-spun wool and then tailored into a jacket. It is decorated with both hand made and commercial black applique. The design on the back features matched quetzal birds. This jacket has been worn in cofradia society ceremonies. Authentic examples such as this are rare. This outstanding chumpa is in excellent condition. It was collected from Paulina Ramos of Solola. (9-260) $ 200. Sold.
