Solola ceremonial huipil.
W125 x L152 cm opened. This post-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three cotton panels. Some
ixcaco - hand-spun naturally brown cotton - is used in the base panels. The panels are joined by hand embroidered
multi-colored decorative seams. Although in excellent condition, this huipils is believed to be used. It features simple
ikat patterned warp stripes and scattered geometric designs in supplementary brocade. The collar design with a satin
rosette sun symbol around the head hole is hand embroidered and traditional. It was acquired from Jose Maria Pocop Barreno
