Solola faja. (sash/belt)

This post-1980 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one warp-striped cotton panel. Many of these stripes include ikat dye patterns. It is further decorated by large areas of double-faced embroidery on each end, with different patterns on each end so that it can appear as two different belts depending on how it’s worn. This outstanding example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Paulina Ramos of Sololá at the Hospedaje San Francisco on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 17 x L 350 cm plus fringes. (23-43) $ 120 or best offer.
