Solola men’s camisa (shirt).
This post-2000 men’s shirt was tailored from material produced on a foot treadle loom. It features extensive and complex
ikat dye patterns in red/brown colors and western styling with zipper closures. The surface decoration is achieved by thin ribbon applique sown on in
symmetric designs. Ikat is a process where groups of threads are tie-dyed before they are woven in such a way as to create specific patterns. This fine
example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Sra. Paulina Ramos of Solola in Panajachel.
Width at shoulders – 46 cm, length – 56 cm, sleeves – 50 cm. (23-41) $ 175 or best offer.
