Sololá camisa (men’s shirt).

This circa-2000 men’s shirt was tailored from material produced on a foot treadle loom. It features extensive and complex ikat dye patterns in many colors and western styling with zipper closures. The surface decoration is achieved by thin ribbon sown on in symmetric designs. Ikat is a process where groups of threads are tie-dyed before they are woven in such a way as to create specific patterns. This exceptional example is in excellent condition. It was acquired in the Sololá market. Width at shoulders – 44 cm, length – 57 cm, sleeves – 52 cm. (21-76) $ 150 or best offer.
