Solola vintage ceremonial huipil.
This pre-1980 ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped cotton panels. It features simple geometric designs
in supplementary brocade, all in silk, and simple ikat in the warp stripes. The panels are joined by hand-embroidered and decorative seams also
in silk. The traditional collar design includes a satin rosette centered sun symbol that is hand embroidered in silk. Authentic (used) Solola
ceremonial huipils are rare. This classic example is in good, but not perfect condition. It was acquired from the
collection of Antigua archaeologist and jade expert, Mary Lou Ridinger. www.jademaya.com W 134 x L 80 cm. (20-51) $ 600 or best offer.
