Solola ceremonial huipil.

This ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped cotton panels. The brown warp stripes are “ixcaco”, hand spun naturally brown cotton. It also features simple ikat patterned warp stripes and scattered designs in supplementary brocade, some in silk. The panels are joined by hand embroidered multi-colored decorative seams. The collar design with satin rosette centered sun symbols is hand embroidered and traditional. It is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an important private collection in Antigua Guatemala. W 112 x L 78 cm. (19-18) $ 450. OBO
