Sololá ceremonial mantel (table cloth).
This circa-1980 mantel was hand woven on a foot treadle loom in two warp-striped
cotton panels. It features extensive ikat, a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dying process
similar to tie-dye. This is like mantels used by the cofradia (Maya ceremonial society) of Sololá. It is large and in excellent
condition. It was acquired from the collection of an ex-US diplomat in Guatemala. W 138 x L 191 cm. (16-41) $ 200. OBO
