Solola mantel (table cloth).

Probably intended for ceremonial use. This post-2000 mantel was hand woven on a back-strap loom in two warp-striped cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams in silk. Much of the warp-striping is in ixcaco, hand spun, undyed naturally brown cotton. The wide, dark warp-stripes are indigo dyed. Other stripes have simple ikat dye patterns. This fine example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua. W 107 x L 237 cm. (15-308) $375. OBO
