Sololá man’s ceremonial jacket (Cofradia Society use)

This post-1980 ceremonial jacket was tailored from material hand woven on a back strap loom in panels of un-dyed white wool. It is decorated with black appliqué. The design on the back features matched quetzal birds and an eagle motif. This jacket has been worn in ceremonies of the Rosario cofradia society in Sololá. Authentic examples such as this are rare. It is lined with maroon corduroy and has zippered interior pockets. This chaqueta is in very good condition. It was acquired from Paulina Ramos of Sololá at her tienda in front of the Casa de Huespedes San Francisco on Calle Santander in Panajachel. Shoulders 44 cm x length 55 cm x sleeves 50 cm.
