This vintage ceremonial tzute was hand woven on a backstrap loom in two warp striped cotton base panels joined by a hand embroidered decorative seam. Surface decoration is supplementary brocade, some in silk. Some of the warp stripes feature “ixcaco”, hand-spun natural brown cotton, while others have ikat dye patterns in indigo and other natural dyes. Circa 1965. This rare item is part of the collection of the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales Nim Po’t in Antigua Guatemala. $1125 (15-01)
