Sololá ceremonial huipil. Hand woven on a back strap loom in three
cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. Some of
the warp stripes are ixcaco – hand spun undyed naturally brown cotton
thread. This example is authentic is all respects, but we believe
it has not been used. Hence, it is technically a copy. The surface
decoration is brocade and some of it is in silk. It is in excellent
condition. Acquired from José Maria Pocop Barreno’s “El Guipil”
collection in Panajachel. 148 x 152 cm. (12-178) $ 425.
