Solola ceremonial huipil.
This new ceremonial huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in three warp-striped cotton panels.
The brown warp stripes are “ixcaco”, hand spun naturally brown cotton. It also features simple ikat patterned warp stripes and
scattered designs in supplementary brocade. The panels are joined by hand embroidered multi-colored decorative seams. The
collar design with satin rosette centered sun symbols is hand embroidered and traditional. Although authentic in its design,
because it is unused, it is considered a copy. It is in perfect condition.
It was acquired from Julio Cesar Ajanel at his tienda on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W130 x L162 cm opened. (12-177) $ 350. OBO
