Sololá faja (sash).
This post-1980 faja was hand woven on a back strap loom in one cotton panel of multi-colored warp stripes. Many of these stripes feature simple black and white
ikat, a process where groups of threads are to tie-dyed before they are woven in order to create specific patterns. It is further decorated by supplemental
brocade featuring rather bizarre plant motifs. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Paulina Ramos of Sololá at her tienda in front
of the Hospedaje San Francisco on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 17.5 x L 288 cm plus fringes. (11-225) Was $60. Now $45 or best offer.
