Santo Domingo Xenacoj daily huipil. W100 x L138 cm opened. This pre-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two cotton panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The supplementary brocade decoration is limited to bands across the shoulders. The lack of decorative figures on the chest is unusual. This huipil also features narrow warp stripes in ixcaco, hand spun naturally brown cotton, also highly unusual. The neck hole is finished with a hand embroidered chain stitch. It is extra wide and in excellent condition. It was acquired from Maria Isabel Gonzales of Patzicia. (8-140) $ 150. SOLD.
