Santo Domingo Xenacoj daily huipil. W89 x L130 cm opened. This post-1980 daily huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in cotton 3 panels that are joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The center panel is wider (34 cm) and more heavily decorated. The supplementary brocade decoration features many motifs – double headed eagles, plumed serpents, universal diamonds, corn, duality and birds. The neck hole is finished with a hand embroidered chain stitch. This huipil is very unique in that it is either a daily huipil done in the local ceremonial huipil style or a less elaborate ceremonial huipil. It is in like new condition. It was collected from Ema and Carmen Tepeu of San Pedro Sacatepequez (G). (7-105) $ 100 *SOLD*
