Santo Domingo Xenacoj daily huipil.

This huipil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two red warp-striped cotton/rayon blend panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. This base fabric blend is known as “aleman” and is prized for its softness and drape. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring bird and plant motifs. The head opening is trimmed with hand embroidery. This classic example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from an anonymous private collection in Guatemala. W 92 x L 64 cm. (18-51) $ 140. OBO
