Santo Domingo Xenacoj ceremonial (cofradia) huipil.
This fine huipil was hand woven on a back-strap loom in three cotton panels
joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring zoomorphic, plant and
double-headed eagle motifs. Some of the brocade is in silk. The collar is trimmed in taffeta as are the two “lunas”. This style
is associated with cofradia society ceremonies. Circa 1980. Acquired from a private collection in Guatemala.
