Santo Domingo Xenacoj wedding huipil.

This hupil was hand wovon a back strap loom in two warp-striped black cotton panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade. It is decorated to the hem, meaning that it was to be worn out, as with ceremonial huipils. The collar is trimmed with had embroidery. This unique example is in excellent condition. It was acquired from the collection of Anya Hazelwood who purchased it originally during the 1980’s. W 87 x L 64 cm. (16-04) $ 150. OBO
