This pre-1970 hui pil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two green warp-striped cotton/rayon panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. This fabric blend is known as “aleman” and is prized for its softness and drape. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring animal motifs. The head opening is trimmed with hand embroidery. This fine example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Sras. Ema and Carmen Tepeú at the La Fuente textile market in Antigua.
