Santo Domingo Xenacoj daily huipil.

This post-1980 hupil was hand woven on a back strap loom in two maroon warp-striped cotton/rayon panels joined by hand embroidered decorative seams. This fabric blend is known as “aleman” and is prized for its softness and drape. The surface decoration is supplementary brocade featuring bird and plant motifs. This example is in very good condition. It was acquired from Miguel Sol at his tienda on Calle Santander in Panajachel. W 86 x L 55 cm. (15-210) $ 90. OBO
